November 20, 2009 - Alpine's Gallery Night Art Walk 2009
Friday evening at 7:30, accomplished photographer Michael H. Marvins will describe some of the photographic techniques he used in recording the greater Big Bend area for his book. Numerous photos from Texas’ Big Bend: A Photographic Adventure from the Pecos to the Rio Grande will be displayed in both the Reading Room (in the annex building) and in the Antiquarian Bookroom of the main store. The exhibit will remain through December.

Saturday evening at 7:30, two experienced writers on the troubled U.S-Mexico Border will examine different facets of crime and violence in the Border region. They include James Kuykendall (U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs Investigator, and DEA Agent), author of ¿O Plata, O Plomo? The Abduction and Murder of DEA Agent Kiki Camarena; and Lee Morgan II (Special Agent, U.S. Customs Service), author of The Reaper’s Line: Life and Death on the Mexican Border.
