Echoes Along the Pecos River

by McAleese, Barbara E.

Echoes Along the Pecos River: Intriguing Ranch Tales from West Texas is a vivid history of five generations of the Babb family who ranched in West Texas. They survived through good times and bad, drought and loss, murder and danger, but were always protective of family and those dear to them.

The story begins with the author’s infamous great great grandfather William “Cherokee Bill” Babb (1835-1911), who claims he killed 23 men but never went to jail for long. The hard work of a Christian grandmother would not spare her from losing three children, one who served and died in World War II. Throughout their lives there was love, laughter and always intrigue of some kind. The book is a collection of childhood memories, family history, and extraordinary tales of adventure set in the Pecos River country for more than 150 years.
